Attendance

 
Students attending LPA are required to complete school work in their classes each school day.  Students earn attendance by completing school work.  Students must complete enough work each attendance period to earn the equivalent number of days of attendance.  Unearned days of attendance are recorded as unexcused absences since there are no excused absences in independent study.  Students have the flexibility within the attendance period to catch up on work missed.
 
When a student does not complete 60% or more of the assigned work in one week's time, they are placed into LPA's tiered re-engagement system below.  
 
TIERED RE-ENGAGEMENT
 

Step 1 - teacher makes contact with student (email, coaching report, phone)

Step 2 - teacher makes contact and informs parent or guardian (phone)

Step 3 - teacher referral to admin., admin. Contacts parent/guardian

Step 4 - SST held and a student contract established

Step 5 - possible removal from IS
