Student Testimonials

To the students, parents, and staff of Learning Post Academy:

My name is Chloe, and I graduated from Learning Post ten years ago. Since then, I have moved to new cities, earned my bachelor's degree, lived abroad, worked for the Oregon Innocence Project, and, in just a few short weeks, I will graduate from law school before beginning my career as a public defense attorney. When I first started law school, incoming students heard the same speech over and over again about how we were all used to being "the best" - top of our class, highly involved, overachievers. I remember sitting there, quietly laughing to myself, thinking about my time at an alternative high school that, in my opinion, never got the recognition it deserved.

Learning Post High School was a lifeline for me. Without it, I likely would have dropped out of school altogether. It offered the flexibility and support I needed when life made a traditional path to education impossible. But even more important than the academics, the teachers and staff helped rebuild my confidence at a time when I desperately needed it. They reminded me not only that I was smart, but I also had so many strengths outside of school. They gave me hope, resilience, and a belief in myself that completely changed what I thought was possible for my future. (And spoiler alert, for any students thinking about higher education: the independent study skills you’ve learned will give you a huge advantage in college.)

To the teachers, administrators, and staff: thank you. I am profoundly grateful for the support and belief you offered me during one of the most difficult times in my life.  And to the current students and soon-to-be graduates: congratulations! I know firsthand how much dedication it takes to earn this diploma. It is no small feat to take ownership of your education and stay committed without the daily structure of a traditional classroom. Whatever you choose to do next, always remember that you are capable of so much more than you know. Your experiences have given you a perspective and a strength that the world needs. Be proud of everything you've accomplished. Stay curious, stay brave, and enjoy the journey ahead - you have so many amazing adventures waiting for you. And know that there are people cheering you on every step of the way, myself included. Congratulations again - now go celebrate!

Your friend,
Chloe Adams
