GRADING POLICY

Each teacher has a specific set of grading and late work policies. Please make sure that you spend time with each teacher to learn what his/her grading policies are regarding:

                          1. Coursework due dates
                          2. Late assignments
                          3. Test/Quiz re-sets/retakes
                          4. Moving ahead in a subject

In many cases a student will not be permitted to move forward in a sequence of classes if the initial classes are not mastered.  For example, if a student receives a grade of “D” or “F” in Algebra 1A, they will not be allowed to move to Algebra 1B until they have shown mastery of the Algebra 1A class.  As a rule, grades are assigned as follows:

A = 90 -100%

B = 80 – 89%

C = 70 – 79%

D = 60 - 69%

F = below 60%

VARIABLE CREDIT

Learning Post Academy integrates a variable credit system in which credits are earned as satisfactory work is completed.  Credits are earned by completing the assigned coursework each week.  In order to maintain normal progress towards graduation, a student should earn between 25 – 30 credits per semester.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (G.P.A.)

All letter grades earned by students are assigned a point value, from 0 - 4, which is then computed and converted into a Grade Point Average (G.P.A.).  Your student’s transcript includes grades and credits from every high school he/she has attended, including classes taken at COC.  Letter grades for regular classes, Honors, and Advanced Placement classes are converted to points as follows:

Regular Classes Honors and Advanced Placement Classes

A = 4.00 Outstanding

B = 3.00 Good

C = 2.00 Average

D = 1.00 Minimum

F =  0.00 Unsatisfactory

P = Passed course/not included in GPA calculation
